Portfolio Company Spotlight: Fountain Life and Q&A with Co-Founder / CEO Dr. William Kapp
Fountain Life is a cutting-edge, fully-integrated healthcare platform that delivers predictive, preventative, personalized, and data-driven healthcare excellence through both physical brick-and-mortar centers and an interactive digital platform. Co-founded by Tony Robbins, Peter Diamandis, M.D. and Dr. William Kapp, Fountain Life delivers the most advanced diagnostics and vetted therapeutics to those who seek a longer, healthier, and more vital life. They use Al to collect data and gain insights into the human body in a proactive way, finding illnesses and diseases before they can cause serious harm while reducing the likelihood of invasive and costly future treatments.
In 2021, our Seed Healthcare Fund I Advisory Board members recognized the remarkable impact and projected growth of the company. We are proud to work with Fountain Life and our portfolio of other investments and partners.
Dr. William Kapp’s insights are invaluable in understanding the challenges and opportunities within the industry. Our team asked him some questions regarding the transformative vision and strategies guiding Fountain Life’s mission.
How is Fountain Life revolutionizing the healthcare model?
Fountain Life is at the forefront of transforming healthcare from a reactive to a proactive model. We leverage advanced AI technology to detect asymptomatic diseases early on. This shift enables individuals to live longer, healthier, and more vital lives by focusing on preventative care. By identifying potential health issues before they manifest into serious conditions, we are fundamentally changing how healthcare is approached.
What recent data highlights the effectiveness of Fountain Life’s preventative diagnostic health screenings?
The efficacy of Fountain Life’s preventative diagnostics is evident in our recent data, which indicates that potentially life-threatening or life-altering conditions were identified in more than 14% of 1,000 people who underwent our early preventative diagnostic health screenings. This is a significant finding as it underscores the potential of our screenings to save lives and improve health outcomes.
How does the current healthcare model incentivize reactive rather than preventive care?
The prevailing healthcare model tends to incentivize reactive, or “sick care,” which rewards treating conditions that have already become symptomatic and require acute care. This is largely due to the structure of healthcare economics, which often emphasizes treatment over prevention. However, Fountain Life is working to shift this paradigm by proving the value and cost-effectiveness of getting in front of the problem with preventative measures.
In what ways can early detection contribute to avoiding, mitigating, or reversing potential diseases and increasing longevity?
Early detection is crucial as it can contribute to avoiding, mitigating, or even reversing diseases and, in turn, increasing longevity. By catching diseases in their nascent stages, we can offer treatments that are less invasive and less expensive. Additionally, early detection can prevent the progression of diseases, leading to improved quality of life and extended healthspan.
The idea of early detection is key, and seemingly these programs are often reserved for the wealthy. How do you envision creating broader access to the middle class and beyond?
Fountain life has a roadmap to democratize access to cutting edge disease detection by lowering the cost and improving access. We will be rolling out partnerships with resorts, hotels, country clubs and communities where the price of the testing is covered by HOA fees or wellness packages. Testing will be enabled by a digital platform where every member will have their own health information on their phone empowered with AI for recommendations for healthy living. We hope to drive the cost of our programs down to $5,000 a year, roughly the cost of a high end gym membership. A similar program will be implemented across health insurance platforms helping to lower costs and improve outcomes through early detection.
Can you elaborate on the projected healthcare innovations in the next decade and their revolutionary impact on the industry?
Over the next decade, we anticipate healthcare innovations that will dramatically extend life expectancy and quality. These innovations are expected to surpass the advancements made in the past 150 years. We envision a future where the management of chronic diseases is transformed, leading to revolutionary changes in the way we understand and treat aging and health. I believe it’s essential for everyone to take an active role in their health management, advocating for a future where they can be the CEO of their own health and longevity, truly extending life’s potential.
At Fountain Life, we are excited to be at the forefront of these changes, pioneering a new era in healthcare that emphasizes proactive, personalized, and preventive care.
